When to vaccinate?
Young pets are highly susceptible to infectious diseases as their immune system is not fully mature. Mother’s milk provides antibodies against several diseases if her vaccination is complete. But after certain time span these maternal antibodies subside or interfere in pet’s vaccine response.
4 to 6 weeks old pet must get first dose of vaccine then followed by schedule of booster doses. Usually, booster doses are given after completion of 21 days (3 – 4 weeks) and followed annually throughout the life.
Incomplete vaccination leads to incomplete protection and makes pet vulnerable to life threatening diseases.
Which diseases are covered under vaccine?
Rabies, Canine distemper, Canine Parvo, Canine Corona, Infectious Canine Hepatitis, Canine Leptospirosis and Canine Flu.
Any side effect or risk of vaccination?
Commonly pets experience mild side effects after receiving first dose of vaccine-
- Irritation at the site of vaccine
- Mild fever for rest of the day
- Swelling at the site
- Loss of appetite
- Less active
Uncommonly allergic reactions may occur immediately or hours after the vaccination. Also inform us if your pet had any prior reactions to vaccination, if in doubt wait for 30-60 minutes at clinic after vaccination, only then take your pet home safely.
